Halo semuanya, nama saya Fira Hi everybody! I’m Fira.
Welcome to IndonesianPod101.com’s “Bahasa Indonesia dalam 3 menit”. The fastest, easiest, and most fun way to learn Indonesian.
In the last lesson, we learned how to talk about age. This time we will learn to talk about things you own.
Apakah kamu punya mobil? “Do you have a car?”
[slowly] Apakah kamu punya mobil?
Let’s take a closer look at this question.
Apakah kamu means “Do you”.
Punya means “Have” or “Own”.
Mobil means “car”
So if you *do* have a car, how can you answer this question?
it’s really simple!
Iya, saya punya mobil. Which literally means “Yes, I have car”
[slowly] Iya, saya punya mobil.
So say for example, that a classmate wants to borrow a pen from you. He might ask, Apakah kamu punya pulpen? Which is “Do you have a pen?”
If you only have a red pen, you can answer Iya, saya punya pulpen merah. “Yes, I have a red pen.”
Okay, so now let’s look at the FORMAL way to ask someone if he or she has something.
You just have to replace the word punya with memiliki.
For example...
Apakah kamu memiliki mobil? “Do you have a car?”
[slowly] Apakah kamu memiliki mobil?
Now it’s time for Fira’s Insights.
If you want to sound really natural when asking if someone has something, you can use the word non. Here’s an example.
Kamu punya anjing, tidak? This literally means “You have a dog, no?”
You just add the little word tidak after the sentence. It makes the whole sentence sound like a question.
In recent lessons, we have learned about locations, nationality, how to tell your age and possessions.
Next time we’ll learn how to say “I’m not” and “I don’t have”.
Did you know to do negation in Indonesian?
I'll be waiting for you with the answer in the next Bahasa Indonesia dalam 3 menit.
Sampai jumpa lagi!
