Hi everyone! I’m Alisha. |
Welcome to Conversational Phrases! |
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations. |
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What are you doing?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to answer this question and tell someone something about what you’re writing. |
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases! |
Listen to the dialogue. |
Kamu sedang apa? |
Aku sedang menulis jurnalku. |
Once more with the English translation. |
Kamu sedang apa? |
“What are you doing?” |
Aku sedang menulis jurnalku. |
“I'm writing my journal.” |
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “What are you doing?” |
That's: Kamu sedang apa? |
Listen to it again: Kamu sedang apa?, Kamu sedang apa? |
This Indonesian sentence literally translates as “You're doing what?” |
But it means “What are you doing?”. |
Now, how do you answer this question? |
The pattern is: |
Aku sedang menulis [object]. |
“I'm writing [object].” |
For example: |
“I'm writing my journal.” |
Aku sedang menulis jurnalku., Aku sedang menulis jurnalku. |
