Hi everyone! Iโ€™m Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
Weโ€™ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that youโ€™ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, youโ€™ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What are you doing?" After watching this video, youโ€™ll be able to answer this question and tell someone something about what youโ€™re writing.
Now, letโ€™s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
Kamu sedang apa?
Aku sedang menulis jurnalku.
Once more with the English translation.
Kamu sedang apa?
โ€œWhat are you doing?โ€
Aku sedang menulis jurnalku.
โ€œI'm writing my journal.โ€
First of all you'll need to learn how to say โ€œWhat are you doing?โ€
That's: Kamu sedang apa?
Listen to it again: Kamu sedang apa?, Kamu sedang apa?
This Indonesian sentence literally translates as โ€œYou're doing what?โ€
But it means โ€œWhat are you doing?โ€.
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
Aku sedang menulis [object].
โ€œI'm writing [object].โ€
For example:
โ€œI'm writing my journal.โ€
Aku sedang menulis jurnalku., Aku sedang menulis jurnalku.
