Hi everyone! I’m Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What are you doing during the holiday?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to talk about your holiday plans.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
Kamu mau melakukan apa waktu Tahun Baru Imlek?
Aku berencana pergi ke pantai.
Once more with the English translation.
Kamu mau melakukan apa waktu Tahun Baru Imlek?
“What are you doing for Lunar New Year?”
Aku berencana pergi ke pantai.
“I'm planning to go to the beach.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “How's your mother?”
That's: Kamu mau melakukan apa waktu Tahun Baru Imlek?
Lunar New Year marks the new year according to the traditional Chinese calendar and is typically celebrated by the Indonesian Chinese.
Listen to it again: Kamu mau melakukan apa waktu Tahun Baru Imlek? , Kamu mau melakukan apa waktu Tahun Baru Imlek?
This Indonesian sentence literally translates as “You want to do what when Chinese New Year?” But it means “What are you doing for Lunar New Year?”
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
Aku berencana [plan].
“I’m planning to [plan].”
For example:
“I'm planning to go to the beach.”
Aku berencana pergi ke pantai., Aku berencana pergi ke pantai.
