Andi: Aku akan ke toko kelontong dan membelinya.
Ibu: Kita juga memerlukan air mineral dan buah-buahan untuk menjenguk ayahmu.
Andi: Baik bu, ada lagi yang kita butuhkan?
Ibu: Jangan lupa membawa payung, awannya kelihatan sangat gelap.
Andi: Baik, Bu, aku ambil payung dulu.
Ibu: Setelah berbelanja, kembalilah secepatnya karena kita tidak mau melewati waktu berkunjung hari ini.
English Host: Let’s hear the conversation one time slowly.

Andi: Baik bu, ada lagi yang kita butuhkan?
Becky: OK Mom, is there anything else that we need?
Ibu: Jangan lupa membawa payung, awannya kelihatan sangat gelap.
Becky: Don't forget to bring an umbrella, there are dark clouds outside.
Andi: Baik, Bu, aku ambil payung dulu.
Becky: Yes Mom, let me get the umbrella first.
Ibu: Setelah berbelanja, kembalilah secepatnya karena kita tidak mau melewati waktu berkunjung hari ini.
Becky: After you shop for groceries, return quickly as we don't want to miss the visit time at the hospital today.
POST CONVERSATION BANTER
Becky: So Andi’s doing some grocery shopping for his mom. What are some popular items among Indonesians when they go shopping?
Fira: Well basically, people in Indonesia believe there are nine basic necessities for daily living. They are rice, sugar, salt, salted fish, cooking oil, coffee, eggs, flour and fuel. These things become the main indicators of basic consumption in Indonesia. Also, the quantity and the price of these products are regulated by the government.
Becky: I see. And how about the consumption in Indonesia?Fira: According to Data from the third quarter of 2013, the consumption growth rate was 5.6 percent.
Becky: That’s quite a high number considering the high inflation, and the recent fear of high unemployment. How do you see the consumption in Indonesia influencing the economic growth rate?Fira: Well Becky, as you see, even in the middle of the fear of an economic crisis, the consumption rate is still high. This wouldn't happen if it wasn't supported by a strong foundation built by the economic policymakers in the Indonesian Government.
Becky: Very interesting to know. Okay, now let’s move on to the vocab.

KEY VOCAB AND PHRASES
Becky: Let’s take a closer look at the usage of some of the words and phrases from this lesson.
Fira: Let’s start with setelah.Becky: Well, it's a conjunction that connects clauses that means "after." The word also implies a sequence.
Fira: For example, Setelah kamu pergi, dia datang ke sini.Becky: "After you left, he came here." I see, can you give me another example in a sentence?
Fira: Sure! When you're describing the activity before sleep, you will say Sampai di rumah, aku segera mandi dan menggosok gigi. Setelah gosok gigi, aku tidur.’
Becky: "After arriving home, I take a bath and brush my teeth. After brushing my teeth, I go to bed." Just remember this hint, listeners. This conjunction is used after the main clause.
Fira: The next word is perlu. Becky: It can be translated as "need" in English.
Fira: Always placed after the subject, perlu is used to describe something necessary to have or to do. For example, if you see your friend hasn't taken a rest, you'll say Kamu telah bekerja seharian, kamu perlu istirahat.
Becky: "You've been working all day, you need a rest."
Fira: And the last word is sepertinya or "looks like".
Becky: It's the same as “seems”.
Fira: Let’s use it in the example, Sepertinya dia telah tidur.
Becky: "Looks like he's already asleep." And one more?
Fira: Sepertinya kita kehabisan bensin.
Becky: "Seems like we're running out of fuel." Well, this part is quite clear. Okay, now onto the grammar.
GRAMMAR POINT
Becky: In this lesson, you’ll learn some useful expressions for shopping. For example, in the dialogue Andi’s mother asked Andi to buy things in a convenience store. So let’s use that situation. When you’ve already arrived at the grocery or convenience store, you'd like to ask for the products you want to buy. How would you ask about the availability of the product?
Fira: Well, there are many ways, but there is a simple model that can be used, such as, Permisi, apakah ada + noun. Which can be translated as "Excuse me do you have + noun….? For example, if you want to buy soap, you'd say Permisi, apakah ada sabun?
Becky: "Excuse me, do you have soap?"
Fira: That's right Becky, Let’s use another example, Apakah ada model yang lain?
Becky: "Do you have another model?" And how about questions about the price or the cost?
Fira: Well, there are various ways, but you can use this simple pattern, berapa + harga + (noun) + ini?
Becky: Let’s hear it in a sentence please.
Fira: If you want to know the price of the milk, you can say Berapa harga susu ini?
Becky: "How much is this milk?" Let’s break this down, “how much is” …
Fira: … berapa
Becky: Next is the word “price”
Fira: … harga
Becky: Next is the noun “milk”…
Fira: … susu
Becky: And the final word for “this”…
Fira: … ini
