Hello Andrey,

In Indonesian, we put modifier(s) after the noun it modifies so it is kakak (noun) perempuan (modifier).

Cheers,

Sarah

Selamat Sore!

Saya mempunyai kakak perempuan.

I have a question - why we say "kakak" before the noun, not after?

Hello guys,

Thanks for commenting Andy J, Sokhann C, and Abhishek.

Sokhann C, Abhishek, here is to add to your family vocabulary.

older sister - kakak perempuan

older brother - kakak laki-laki/abang

Using Abhishekโ€™s sample sentence, it is โ€œSaya mempunyai satu kakak perempuan.โ€

What if you have multiple siblings 2 older brothers, an older sister, 2 younger sisters and 2 younger brothers, where in the phases you say the numbers of siblings?

"Dua laki-laki, dua adik perempuan"...?

Makasih

Hi Sezim,

There are several ways to express โ€œI donโ€™t have a brother or a sister.โ€ in Indonesian. You can say โ€œSaya tidak punya saudara kandung.โ€ that means โ€œI donโ€™t have siblings.โ€ or you can say โ€œSaya anak satu-satunya.โ€ that means โ€œIโ€™m an only child.โ€

Thank you for your comment Sezim!

Best Regards,

Sarah
