Let's look at the dialogue.
When I read, I want you to pay attention to the clarification phrases.
Find the clarification phrase and see how it's used in the dialogue.
Nama saya Rinjani Kirana.
My name is Rinjani Kirana.
Maaf, bisa tolong ulangi?
Excuse me, can you please repeat?
Now, let's look at the sentence pattern.
This pattern will be the structure that all of our dialogues will follow.
Maaf, bisa tolong verb or verb phrases?
Excuse me, can you please verb or verb phrases?
Now, let's look at some speaking examples.
You want to get to the train station and ask someone for directions,
but he speaks too fast and it is hard to understand his instructions.
What do you say to him to slow down?
Maaf, bisa bicara lebih pelan?
Excuse me, can you speak more slowly?
Next situation.
You are in a loud cafe and the waiter is explaining the menu,
but you can barely hear the waiter's voice.
What do you say?
Maaf, bisa bicara lebih keras?
Excuse me, can you speak louder?
Last situation.
You are traveling to Bali and staying in a hotel.
The hotel reception staff gives you the name of a must-see beach,
but it is hard to remember.
You ask the staff to write it down.
What do you say?
Maaf, bisa tolong ditulis?
Excuse me, can you please write it down?
Use the word tolong before the verb or verb phrases to make a more polite request.
