to start a business in Indonesian is “memulai suatu usaha” or “memulai suatu bisnis”.
I am a Sri Lankan Malay. There are about 48000 Malays living in Sri Lanka as per the last census conducted in 2011. Most Sri Lankan Malays are descendants of Indonesia who came to Ceylon, as Sri Lanka was known then, about 300 years ago. They were recruited as soldiers who came with Dutch and English who occupied Ceylon during this period.
The Malay language we speak now survived amidst so many influences from other major races living in Sri Lanka such as majority Sinhala, Tamils, burgers (dutch descendants) alas now has evolved into a language which is understood by only Sri Lankan Malays which comprises of a mixed vocabulary with Malay and words from other races.
Hope my new year resolution below in Indonesian Malay is correct.
Memulain satu business
English: To start a business
Hi Roc Ordman,
'That's my resolution' in Indonesian is 'Itu adalah resolusi saya."
 That's my resolution. What's the Indonesian word for that?
